Hello friends! I am happy to say I am nearly finished with my thesis! I can hardly believe it. The manuscript will be complete by this week. After this, I will not be posting any other tidbits of the book.

This poem is when my character, Sophie, goes to her twin’s track meet. I have to say, I really love how this one turned out! My twin has always been an incredible athlete.

Once again, thank you for your patience with me as I take time to finish my degree. Your encouragement and support have meant the world to me on this journey!

She Smiles

The athletes twist,

Jump,

Slap their legs,

Shrug their shoulders.

Nervous.

She weaves

Among them,

As proud as

A panther.

They line up,

Sweating,

Hearts pounding.

She smiles.

The starter pistol

Raised in the air.

Bang!

They push off

The blocks.

Hope soars

Their legs move

In the rhythm of

Competition.

But they can only

Race

For second place.
